Pradip Bhattarai's films begin with the pressure points of ordinary relationships: friendship, money, family and the unpredictable consequences of a small decision. Jatra, his 2016 directorial debut, established that approach through a heist-comedy structure built around three friends. He developed the story further in Jatrai Jatra and Mahajatra, while Shatru Gate and Mahapurush showed him working across comedy, domestic drama and social satire. In Mahajatra, he again combined writing and directing, turning a familiar ensemble into a political caper rather than simply repeating the earlier films' formula. Bhattarai's recent work also includes executive producing Lalibazar, released in 2026. His career shows a writer-director building recurring characters and popular genres into a longer conversation about everyday Nepali life.
