Saurav Lamichhane

Saurav Lamichhane is a Nepali cinematographer and director from the younger generation working in music videos, and the founder of Raeela Productions. His camera work often looks at a scene from an unexpected angle. He also edits many of the projects he shoots, and writes and sings his own songs. In 2023 he directed and shot *Saiyya*, Zanak Tamrakar's song featuring Nikhita Thapa, and wrote its story. In 2024 he was director of photography on Sushant Ghimire's *Bujhau Malai*, whose camera work was praised for capturing the moments and expressions of its cast, and on The Elements' *Bharosa*, which he also edited and coloured. The same year he shot and edited *Hirulal: The Soul of Karnali*, Ratan Devkota's musical short film about Nepalis who go abroad for work, set to the folk music of Karnali. In 2025 he shot and co-edited Ganesh Senchuri's *Mauri Ghumyo Rasaima*. *Dubey Ma* (2025) is a song he wrote, composed and sings; Robin Sharma directed the video from Lamichhane's concept, with Lamichhane appearing in it and co-editing it. In 2026 he wrote, directed and shot *Chhewai Ma*, sung by Subodh KC, and also wrote its music and lyrics. Raeela produced or supported most of this work, named Raeela Productions on the earlier projects and Raeela Films on the later ones.
